The evaluation process is a cycle that involves the identification of characteristics that need measuring (e.g. quad strength), choosing a test (e.g. back squat), collection and and analysis of data (e.g. 1 RM test result), and the making and implementation of decisions (e.g. deciding whether the quads need strengthening and how).

The analysis of test data can be tricky so careful attention needs to be paid to what the results show. Look for trends and relate the data to the training that has been done or the background of the subjects.

Carefully plan with the athlete any changes to his/her programme and explain why. Set a date in the future for a further test.
